Marine Corps Wants Info on Secure Mobile Phones

The Marine CorpsThe U.S. Marine Corps is asking industry to submit information about Android-powered mobile phones that the branch could potentially utilize for secure communications.

USMC wants a smartphone that runs Android 4.0 or later versions and is capable of operating over domestic and international 3G or 4G LTE networks, the service said in a contracting notice published Thursday.

Devices must also have video, data and voice messaging features as well as comply with federal information security requirements, according to the USMC’s request for information.
