The Commerce Department will start to publish the country’s quarterly gross domestic product per industry starting next month, Reuters reported Tuesday.
Lucia Mutikani writes that Carol Moylan, associate director for industry economic accounts at the Bureau of Economic Analysis, said the report is intended to information and deeper insight for policy makers and enterprises.
“(The report) provides more timely industry data for the business cycle and policy analysis,” Moylan told a conference earlier this week.
“It informs business decision-making, from capital purchases to hiring,” she added.
The first set of new data will come out in late April featuring 22 industries initially and the department plans to add 47 more.
