Cecil HaneyU.S. Strategic Command chief Cecil Haney has said Stratcom will partner with other combatant commands to deter threats against the nation’s cyber and space infrastructures, the American Forces Press Service reported Wednesday.

Amaani Lyle writes Haney told the House Armed Services Committee Wednesday that Stratcom will launch a deterrence and assurance campaign to achieve national security goals.

“The space domain is becoming ever more congested, contested and competitive, [and] worldwide cyber threats are growing in scale and sophistication,” Haney told lawmakers.

“Our unified command plan assigned missions are strategic in nature, global in scope and intertwined with the capabilities of the joint force, the interagency and the whole of government,” he added, according to Lyle’s report.

Stratcom conducts operations in the areas of ISR, missile defense, joint electronic warfare, analysis, targeting and global strike.

“While these diverse activities are being synchronized and integrated by an outstanding team, none of this work … could be accomplished without trained, ready, motivated people,” Haney said.
