Sea-Air-SpaceThe U.S. Navy and Marine Corps have demonstrated new military vehicles at the 2014 Sea-Air-Space Exposition held last week at National Harbor, Md., Federal News Radio reported Friday.

Michael O’Connell writes the Marines’ V-22 Osprey aircraft and the Naval Sea Systems Command Warfare Centers, Carderock Division‘s Stiletto Maritime Demonstration Platform were presented to the media.

The V-22 and Stiletto were two of the new technologies demonstrated at the maritime exposition organized by the Navy League.

The V-22 is part of the Marine Corps Air Facility-based Marine Helicopter Squadron One, which supports the White House military office, the Marine Corps Combat Development and Education Command‘s commanding general and the Operational Test and Evaluation Forces commander.

O’Connell reports the targeted 12 V-22s for the HMX-1 squadron is expected for completion by this summer.

Meanwhile, the Stiletto is a facility that provides a military maritime environment for technology testing by systems developers in a faster process than what the Defense Department currently employs, the report said.

“The main goal of this program is to increase the technology readiness level,” said Rob Tutton, Stiletto’s program manager.
