Air Force Brig. Gen. Sarah Zabel, formerly director of C4 systems at Transportation Command, has been named chief information officer for the Office of the Air Force Secretary and director of cyberspace operations for the branch’s information dominance office.
She most recently led planning, integration, operations and maintenance work for command, control, communications and cyber systems while at Transcom, the Defense Department said Thursday.
Zabel has also served as CIO of the command, where she was responsible for investment strategies on information technology assets.
The 17-year Air Force veteran served as deputy executive assistant to the director of the J3 operations directorate within the Joint Staff from January 2005 to July 2006.
Prior to that role, Zabel was action officer for J3 between 2004 and 2005 and has also served as global operations deputy directorate of the strategic operations division within the Pentagon’s communications and procedures branch.
