White House Eyes Iraq Envoy Robert Stephen for Egypt Ambassador Post

WhiteHouseThe Obama administration is set to nominate Robert Stephen Beecroft, currently the U.S. envoy to Iraq, as ambassador in Egypt, Reuters reported Wednesday.

Lesley Wroughton and Missy Ryan write that Beecroft would succeed Anne Patterson, who moved into her new role as a senior official on Middle East issues in Washington last year.

Beecroft has been serving in the U.S. embassy in Baghdad since 2012, according to the report.

The Senate is tasked with confirming all U.S. ambassador positions, Reuters reports.
