Colvin, deputy commissioner of social security for the SSA for over three years, has also been serving as the agencyâs acting commissioner since February 2013,the White House said Friday.
âI am grateful for Carolynâs past service in various roles at the Social Security Administration, and I am confident that she will serve the American people well in her new role,â Obama said.
Colvinâs previous work included leadership roles with Amerigroup, the departments of Transportation and Health and Human Services in the state, district and county levels.
She is a Bachelor of Arts and MBA graduate from Morgan State University.
