Department of Housing and Urban Development logoRafael Diaz, formerly chief information officer for the state of Illinois, has been appointed to a similar role at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Federal News Radio reported Monday.

Jason Miller writes Diaz replaces Kevin Cooke, who assumed the CIO post at the agency on an acting basis since Jerry Williams stepped down in May 2013.

Cooke will continue serving in his role as HUD deputy CIO, according to the station.

Diaz has experience leading information technology programs at the state and local levels and previously oversaw global security strategies at Deloitte.

He aims to help HUD deliver financial IT management services across the government through the federal shared service initiative, according to Miller’s article.

Miller reports the agency has issued a request for proposals for an automatic IT monitoring and management infrastructure.
