Terry Halvorsen, acting chief information officer at the Defense Department, says the agency is seeking transparency in its relationship with industry, FCW reported Wednesday.

Halvorsen told a conference in Virginia that DoD wants “to be more transparent…at the CIO office” and urged industry to have the same transparency level in its discussions with the government, Sean Lyngaas reports.

He also said that military services are calling for transparency in how it coordinates with Pentagon officials on information technology policies, according to the report.

FCW reports Halvorsen is planning to work with David Tillotson III, acting deputy chief management officer at DoD, to bring the agency into further involvement with the commercial sector.

Lyngaas writes that Halvorsen also wants to reduce redundancies in defense databases.
