Darlene Costello Appointed Principal Deputy Asst. Defense Secretary for Acquisition

Darlene Costelloacquisition policy, an acquisition official within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, has been appointed as principal deputy assistant defense secretary for acquisition under the same office.

Costello previously served as principal director of strategic and tactical systems and director of acquisition and program management, the Defense Department said Tuesday.

In her prior role, Costello advised Pentagon acquisition chief Frank Kendall on program acquisition and management concerns and oversaw procurement processes for strategic and tactical systems.

She also worked on policy formation and the development and implementation of initiatives to help DoD program manager with their skills and qualifications.

Costello previously managed acquisitions of naval warfare and served as a principal adviser on ship programs and procurement of maritime systems when she worked at the Naval Sea Systems Command.
