DARPA said Tuesday the program seeks visualization, path planning, ally/adversary sensing, terrain classification and autopilot capabilities for ground-based armored fighting vehicles.
DARPA wants crew augmentation to help boost situational awareness, ease operational and training requirements and improve survivability of the vehicles and their crew and passengers beyond the protection of armor and maneuverability.
These technologies and functions could lead to future vehicles that are smaller and faster to adjust to changing combat conditions, DARPA said.
