GSA to Hold Solar Challenge Industry Day

solarpowerThe General Services Administration will hold an industry day on Nov. 13 at its Washington headquarters to introduce the federal government’s solar challenge program to potential participants.

The White House has directed federal agencies and military installations to deploy solar renewable energy at federal sites across the national capital region under the Capital Solar Challenge initiative, GSA said Tuesday.

GSA says the program aims to reduce electricity costs and increase the percentage of renewable energy consumption.

Both the Energy Department and GSA will collaborate with agencies to develop solar renewable power on federal sites.

GSA plans to highlight key points of the challenge, project size, selection criteria, contracting methods, desired outcomes and a schedule for construction during the industry day at GSA’s main auditorium.
