Barry West Joins FDIC as Chief Information Officer

Barry West, formerly chief information officer and deputy chief management officer for the Pension Benefit Guaranty, has joined Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. as CIO.

West, who led the Pension Benefit Guaranty’s information technology and information management aspects, will begin his new role at FDIC on Dec. 1, FDIC said Monday.

The 30-plus-year IT veteran previously served as executive vice president for SE Solutions, CIO for the Commerce Department and CIO for the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Barbara Hagenbaugh, formerly a principal spokesperson for the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System, has also been named FDIC deputy to the chairman for communications and will begin her new role on Nov. 17.

She previously worked as a correspondent for USA Today and Reuters America before she joined the Federal Reserve.
