Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert says collaborations with researchers and industry and encouragement of new ideas among personnel are ways to drive technology innovation, DoD News reported Sunday.

Lisa Ferdinando of the Army News Service writes that Greenert discussed at the Reagan National Defense Forum how the Defense Department can work to capitalize on innovation in the industrial base.

He also pointed to methods to look internally and utilize available resources to manage spending of taxpayer dollars.

The U.S. Navy has been working to build on the involvement of its personnel to develop methods for operational concerns such as ships’ vulnerability to cyber threats, Greenert said.
