Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James has announced that she and Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh III have agreed that the service will not implement further involuntary force reductions for fiscal year 2015.
DoD News reported Tuesday that James told airmen during a town hall meeting that the Air Force will work to keep its current numbers and push forward with the increase in military compensation.
She noted that the rate will be lower at 1 percent instead of the 1.8-percent raise in recent years.
“This, of course, was one of those very tough decisions from this very, very tough budget environment,” she said.
James also stated the need for compromise between government leaders to keep the government functioning amid current challenges.
