GAO: Agencies Work to Extend Govt Digital Services to Mobile Users

1 min read

GAOA Government Accountability Office report indicates all 24 major federal agencies have implemented programs to help people access government information and services through mobile technology, FCW reported Wednesday.

Mark Rockwell writes the GAO also found the Office of Management and Budget and General Services Administration guide agencies in their efforts to meet the goals of the White House’s Digital Government Strategy.

The report noted GSA and OMB have helped convince information technology managers at the Transportation Department, Federal Emergency Management Agency and National Weather Service to add mobility features on the organizations’ public-facing websites.

Officials from the Interior Department and the National Endowment for the Arts told GAO their organizations did not seek outside assistance on their wireless services, according to FCW.

GAO also found the GSA serves as a point of contact for the Federal Maritime Commission‘s wireless service, according to Rockwell’s article.
