digital governmentMikey Dickerson, administrator of the U.S. Digital Service, has said the organization needs more technology professionals who can help federal agencies transform public service delivery.

Dickerson wrote in a White House blog post published Wednesday that the service is working on digital tools to aid the government’s efforts to address the backlog in veterans’ disability, climate change and the Ebola crisis.

The Digital Service wants to hire professionals to be part of multiple information technology teams across the government, according to Dickerson.

“We are partnering with dedicated public servants to embed these teams into agencies where they can gain traction on mission-critical problems that have the most impact on everyday people,” he stated.

The organization’s projects include work to refresh portals that are designed to help people manage their student debt repayments, Social Security benefits and passport renewals.
