GSA Wants Alternative Federal Cloud Purchasing Tool

cloudThe General Services Administration has asked for input from other federal agencies and companies about alternative contract vehicles for the procurement of commercial cloud services, Nextgov reported Tuesday.

Mohana Ravindranath writes GSA is seeking a centralized tool for customer agencies to order infrastructure-as-a-service or email-as-a-service offerings.

The agency could use feedback to create a new cloud acquisition vehicle, according to the report.

GSA also invited other agencies to suggest methods for tracking cloud usage costs and asked contractors to describe the challenges they encounter when they offer cloud services to the government.

Responses to the presolicitation will be accepted through March 13.
