Senate Armed Services Panel Moves Ashton Carter Nomination Forward

The Senate Armed Services Committee voted Tuesday to approve the nomination of Ashton Carter for the defense secretary post, SASC Republicans said on Twitter Tuesday morning.

Twenty-five committee members cast their votes in favor of Carter’s appointment and a full Senate vote could take place as early as Wednesday, the official Twitter feed for the SASC majority said.

One member did not vote.
