The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has launched the GEOINT Pathfinder project that seeks to provide unclassified geospatial data through mobile devices to support intelligence operations.

NGA said Monday application developers, data scientists, open source researchers and partners from the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence and Allied System for Geospatial-Intelligence will collaborate on the project.

“We must drive the synergy of our new unclassified sources and our sophisticated classified sources to enable more exquisite insights and understanding on the new, higher open playing field,” said NGA Director Robert Cardillo, who is also an inductee in Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2015.

He added that the GEOINT Pathfinder project aims to develop unclassified information as a broad base supplemented by classified information.
