Mikey Dickerson: Teamwork Key to Gov’t Digital Service Projects

digital governmentThe U.S. Digital Service has been recruiting information technology professionals from the private sector to help federal agencies plan, develop and implement technology-based public service delivery methods, Federal Times reported Monday.

Aaron Boyd writes the Obama administration proposed a $105 million fiscal 2016 budget to create digital service teams across the government.

Mikey Dickerson, director of USDS, aims for the organization to help agencies embrace technological change, according to Federal Times.

“What we’re relying on to overcome the change resistance is working on projects where there’s a strong sense of urgency,” Dickerson told the publication.

“People are perfectly capable of pulling together and working as a team when they feel like it’s the right thing to do,” he added.

Federal Times reports the Department of Veterans Affairs has established its digital service team, led by Matthew Weaver.
