Anne Rung, administrator at the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, has said she aims to assemble a team of acquisition specialists to help OFPP implement government-wide category management business practices, GovExec reported Friday.
Charles Clark writes Rung told reporters at a Bloomberg Government forum last week that she also envisions the group working with federal contracting officials to simplify purchasing solicitation requirements.
âThe buying would still be happening in agencies, but the team will think up strategies and know emerging trends, crises, the technology and vendor base,â she added, according to GovExec.
She expects to release guidance from the Office of Management and Budget‘s Category Management Leadership Council at the end of summer.
Rung told reporters the goal is to organize agencies’ commonly purchased items into information technology, transportation and security and protection spending categories.
