The General Services Administration has assigned a single special item number for cloud service offerings on the agency’s Information Technology Schedule 70 federal procurement vehicle.

GSA said Thursday the commercial cloud category under 132-40 SIN is comprised of software-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service and infrastructure-as-a-service subcategories.

Mary Davie, assistant commissioner of the integrated technology services office at GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, said federal agencies and vendors collaborated to develop and implement the cloud SIN.

Davie added the move is part of GSA’s efforts to transform the Multiple Award Schedules program.

According to GSA, Schedule 70 contractors must submit modification requests to GSA before they can add the newly issued SIN to their cloud contract.

Vendors who aim to join the program can send a proposal through the agency’s eOffer portal.
