U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work highlighted military technology programs, industry collaboration and the defense budget during his speech at an Aerospace Industries Association event held Thursday in Williamsburg, Virginia.
He told attendees of the AIA spring board of governors and membership meeting that industry has played a key role in helping the Defense Department build the U.S. military’s capabilities globally, DoD said Thursday.
Work also noted some of the department’s programs to sustain technological superiority.
Current efforts include the Defense Innovation Initiative, Third Offset Strategy, Long-Range Research & Development Planning Program, Better Buying Power 3.0 and the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental program.
He also called on industry leaders to convince Congress to address sequestration cuts that he said threaten U.S. response to national security threats.
