Gartner: Internet of Things, Hybrid Cloud Among Govt IT Trends in 2015

ITphotoGartner has released a list of the 10 biggest information technology trends that it believes could help government agencies when they plan and develop IT strategies.

The research firm identified a digital workplace that offers access to social, mobile and data platforms as its no. 1 technology trend in the government sector for 2015, Gartner said June 3.

Internet of Things-based systems are forecast to transform public infrastructure management, emergency response, traffic safety and supply chain inspection.

Gartner expects agencies to adopt interoperability frameworks for collaboration, monitoring and reporting activities.

The market researcher also noted hybrid cloud computing technology as having the potential to integrate, govern and secure multiple IT environments.

Other key trends identified in Gartner’s report are multichannel citizen engagement, open data, electronic ID, edge analytics, web-scale IT and digital government platforms.
