Nelson Moe, formerly chief information officer at the House of Representatives, has been named CIO of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
He will oversee modernization efforts for Virginia’s information technology program beginning on June 8, the state government said Tuesday.
Moe most recently worked to develop information technology goals, enterprise strategic planning and cybersecurity operations for the commonwealth.
He previously served as a nuclear submarine officer at the U.S. Navy.
Prior to his role at the Navy, Moe advised small IT and cyber companies on service development.
