The General Services Administration has implemented a new tool for the agency to examine price variation for similar goods and service offerings in the Multiple Award Schedules program.

The Horizontal Pricing Analysis Tool is designed to help contracting officials view the price range for a specific product and vendor bids within that range, Tom Sharpe, commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, wrote in a blog post published Monday.

GSA also developed applications that work to automate pricing changes on GSA Advantage portal and to help MAS contract users compare professional service labor rates.

“Giving our contracting professionals better tools and access to more data is crucial to both the success of the MAS program,” Sharpe said.

He added the agency has been compiling Universal Product Codes in an effort to simplify the search for schedule program offerings and costs.
