Aaron Hughes Joins Defense Department as Cyber Policy Deputy Assistant Secretary

Aaron Hughes, formerly In-Q-Tel vice president for intelligence community support, has joined the Defense Department as deputy assistant secretary for cyber policy.

Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Wednesday announced Hughes’ appointment among other new defense senior executive service assignments.

Hughes will oversee the department’s development and implementation of cyber policies, strategies and plans in his new role.

He most recently led IQT’s intelligence community engagement, outreach and strategic partnerships.

Previously at IQT, he held other roles such as director of IC support from January 2010 through April 2013, director of prototyping from January 2009 through January 2010 and manager of technology programs between July 2008 and January 2009.

Hughes served as technical architect at AppNet/Commerce One after he worked for Lockheed Martin as software engineer.
