Chuck Hagel, former Defense Department secretary, has been selected to receive the Reserve Officers Association of the United States’ Minuteman Hall of Fame award.

ROA said Wednesday it will present the recognition to Hagel at its convention on July 27 at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel in Washington, D.C.

“To receive this recognition from one of America’s most respected service organizations is a high honor,” Hagel said.

Hagel obtained the award for supporting the reserve components while he was serving as defense secretary.

ROA will also present the Twice the Citizen award to Principal Deputy Assistant Defense Secretary Richard Wightman Jr.
