AF Maj. Gen. Sarah Zabel Joins DISA as Vice Director

Maj. Gen. Sarah Zabel, formerly director of cyberspace strategy and policy at the U.S. Air Force, has been reassigned to the Defense Information Systems Agency as vice director, C4ISR & Networks reported Friday.

She started her prior role in July 2014 after one year and three months of service as director of command, control, communications and cyber at U.S. Transportation Command, according to the report.

Prior to Transcom, Zabel commanded the 75th Air Base Wing at Hill Air Force Base in Utah for two years.

The Government Accountability Office has found that the U.S. Air Force intends to start fielding in fiscal 2020 new Combat Rescue Helicopters to replace aging HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopters that have recorded the most flight time when it comes to staff recovery missions. GAO said in a report published Thursday the service will initially deploy the new helicopters to the active component six years ahead of the reserve component and to the Air National Guard by 2027.
