FirstNet Board OKs $126M for FY 2016 Strategic Roadmap Projects; Sue Swenson Comments

The First Responder Network Authority board has approved the proposed $126 million budget for several projects under its strategic program road map for fiscal year 2016.

FirstNet said Monday its board voted to allocate the recommended funds for acquisition, consultation and corporate services to support the organization’s efforts to deploy a nationwide public safety broadband network.

“This budget, like prior years, supports the key outcomes and deliverables that the FirstNet team is focused on to stay on track with the strategic program road map,” said FirstNet Chair Sue Swenson.

The approved budget includes $86 million for acquisition activities that will include a spectrum relocation grant program, $28.7 million for consultation and outreach as well as $11.3 million for corporate services.
