acquisition policyThe Office of Federal Procurement Policy has revamped the Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting in an effort to align the program with the Pentagon’s certification services for defense acquisition personnel, FCW reported Thursday.

“The FAC-C refresh, which is broader than just information technology-specific procurement training, strengthens the development and professionalization of civilian agency contracting professionals,” Joanie Newhart, OFPP associate administrator, told FCW.

She told the publication that OFPP now requires federal civilian procurement employees to complete about 25 percent more hours of training than the previously required duration.

Newhard added the agency is working to establish a specialized training program for IT program managers.

FCW reports the initiative coincides with a collaborative project of OFPP and the U.S. Digital Service to develop and train digital service contracting professionals in government.
