Laura Stanton: GSA Targets User Experience with Online Acquisition Portal

1 min read

GSAThe General Services Administration has added automated contract search and cost estimation tools to the agency’s online portal for federal acquisition professionals and program managers, Federal News Radio reported Thursday.

Meredith Somers writes Laura Stanton, acting assistant commissioner at GSA’s Office of Strategy Management, said the agency uses user feedback to make improvements on its acquisition gateway.

Stanton told the station that the portal is built to apply “the concept of category management and the organization of let’s take government spend, break it out into categories, and then give people guidance and best practices and solutions for each of those categories and organize the gateway along those lines.”

The gateway features 17 procurement hallways for offerings such as information technology, freight and travel services and culminates nearly two years of interviews with customer agencies, the report said.

GSA is also working to implement a platform for acquisition gateway users to access work centers where they can form a project and gather data from the portal, uploaded files and outside sources, Somers reports.
