Steve Shih, deputy associate director of the Office of Personnel Management, believes an engaged workforce is key in efforts by federal agencies to respond to complex challenges, he told GovExec in an interview published Thursday.Shih said the task to maintain workforce satisfaction is the responsibility of each government agency, Eric Katz reports.
He told GovExec that OPM is working with agencies to withdraw from a “one-size-fits-all” management approach and shift toward customized frameworks at the enterprise level based on the unique operational needs of each agency.
Katz writes one area the OPM focuses on is performance appraisal and the agency intends to implement governmentwide standards that agencies can tailor based on their requirements.
