Defense, Aerospace Trade Groups Urge Congress to Strike FY 2016 Bipartisan Budget Deal

CongressLeaders from several defense and aerospace trade groups have called on Congress to begin negotiations on a bipartisan multi-year budget deal for fiscal year 2016 in order to prevent a continuing resolution that would extend current funding levels.

In a letter published Monday on the National Defense Industrial Association website, executives from NDIA and four other associations told the top four congressional leaders in both chambers that an extended CR could have negative effects on the country’s economy and national security and would affect the capability to maintain current operations.

“Cuts to discretionary accounts alone cannot resolve the fundamental imbalance between revenue and spending,” the letter said.

NDIA prepared the letter with executives from the Air Force Association, Aerospace Industries Association, National Guard Association of the United States and the Navy League of the United States.
