Frank Kendall, acquisition chief at the Defense Department, has said that it could take DoD a few more years to recover from the impact of budget uncertainty caused by sequestration, FCW reported Wednesday.

“In 2013, we took a hit and we still haven’t recovered,” Kendall told audience during his speech at a Professional Services Council-hosted luncheon held Wednesday in Arlington, Virginia.

He added there has never been a bigger disconnect between the U.S.’ national security requirements and how the government is addressing these needs.

FCW reports that Kendall also mentioned DoD’s efforts to simplify the defense acquisition system through the Better Buying Power 3.0 initiative and its collaboration with the technology community of Silicon Valley to boost agency innovation.
