Dennis Crall: Marines to Focus on IT Network Centralization Before JIE

NavyC5ISRU.S. Marine Corps CIO Brig. Gen. Dennis Crall said the service branch will focus on efforts to centralize its IT network before it takes up the Defense Department‘s Joint Information Environment, Fedscoop reported Friday.

Billy Mitchell writes that the Seamless Marine Corps Enterprise Network works to support the Marines’ communication needs both in domestic operations and in the battlefield.

“It’s the idea that you have one network; one network that operates and extends, not from the flagpole to the fighting hole, but from the fighting hole backward,” Crall said at an Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association event.

Crall said the Marines still plan to adopt the JIE cloud but prioritize the MCEN effort, according to the report.
