Gregory Cox Appointed FBI Critical Incident Response Group Assistant Director

FBIGregory Cox, formerly head of the counterintelligence division at the FBI, has been appointed assistant director of the critical incident response group at the bureau’s office in Quantico, Virginia.

Cox was global operations section chief prior to his appointment as head of the counterintelligence division in 2014, the bureau said Thursday.

He joined the bureau in 1991 and carried out investigations on illegal drugs, criminal enterprise and gang activities.

He became part of the hostage rescue group in Quantico and participated in international anti-crime and counterterrorism efforts between 1996 and 2002.

Cox helped advance FBI’s partnerships with international partners as a legal attache to Copenhagen, Denmark.

The former police officer also served as an assistant intelligence branch head at the bureau’s Sacramento Division in 2007.
