cybersecurityThe Office of Personnel Management has begun its search for a new chief information security officer as part of its cybersecurity efforts, Nextgov reported Tuesday.

Aliya Sternstein writes the new CISO will report directly to OPM CIO Donna Seymour and oversee the agency’s information technology security policy and security operations center.

The report said Jeff Wagner, director of the security operations center, will report to the new CISO.

According to a notice posted on USAJobs, the selected candidate will craft policies that promote IT risk reduction for cybersecurity initiatives across the federal government, manage data privacy efforts at OPM and handle access and identity management operations within the agency.

OPM is in search of a new CISO with considerable experience in the investigation and resolution of cyber-related incidents and implementation of technology refresh, data security systems and other best practices, Sternstein notes.

Greg Otto also reports on Fedscoop that the new job posting for CISO comes after OPM named Clifton Triplett, formerly managing partner at global management consulting firm SteelPointe Partners, as senior IT and cyber adviser.

Triplett will report directly to OPM Director Beth Cobert.
