FirstNet Adds 6 New Members to User Advocacy Consultation Team

CellTowerThe First Responder Network Authority has added six members to its user advocacy consultation team as it moves to craft a comprehensive engagement and outreach strategy for 2016.

FirstNet said Monday it appointed Jeff King and Steven Smith as area leads, Lori Stone and Michael Varney as regional leads, as well as Tiffany Perry and Charlotte Whitacre as federal coordinators in the user advocacy team.

King, current area lead for Regions I to V, previously served at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s homeland security investigations as deputy assistant director for mission support.

Smith, area lead for Regions VI to X, worked at ICE as deputy chief information officer and served in the same capacity at the Federal Highway Administration.

Varney, the agency’s Region I lead, spent nearly three decades as single point of contact and statewide interoperability coordinator in Connecticut.

Stone, FirstNet’s Region III lead, previously served as the statewide broadband coordinator for the implementation of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network in Maryland.

Perry, a federal consultation liaison at FirstNet, helped manage the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System program for the Federal Emergency Management Agency during her career in the private sector.

Whitacre, also a federal consultation liaison, worked as a telecommunications manager at the Justice Department for 10 years.
