Steven Miley, former associate director for operations at the engineering directorate of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, has been named director of the center’s office of procurement.

NASA said Saturday Miley will oversee all procurement and contracting operations at Marshall and the space agency’s New Orleans-based Michoud Assembly Facility.

He spent three years as director of contracting at the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and was responsible for 13 acquisition directorates until his appointment at NASA in 2014.

The two-decade Air Force reserve officer previously served as director of the strategic capabilities assets division at NASA’s Washington headquarters.

Miley also worked as a contracting officer in the International Space Station program office during his tenure at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
