Report: Trump Backs $750B Request for Pentagon Budget

1 min read

President Donald Trump has supported plans to request a $750B defense budget from Congress for fiscal year 2020, Reuters reported Monday.

A U.S. official told Reuters on Sunday that Defense Secretary James Mattis discussed with the president the potential impact of a flat defense budget on the military.

In October, Trump projected the defense budget to be $700B for FY 2020, reflecting a $33B drop from the Pentagon’s planned FY 2020 budget request.

The official added that Trump intends to speed up the progress his administration has accomplished in military rebuilding efforts, according to the report.
