GAO: Congress, Administration Should Focus on Establishing Long-Term Fiscal Strategy

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has recommended that Congress and the administration implement a long-term fiscal strategy after the COVID-19 pandemic to help the country maintain its position to meet its social and security requirements and address public health emergencies and other future events. “Absent any action, debt held by the public is projected to surpass 200 percent of GDP by 2048,” the GAO report reads.

NASA to Fund Initial Designs of Commercial Space Stations Via CLD Program

GAO: DOD Should Document Leadership Roles, Responsibilities for Hypersonic Weapons Development

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has recommended that the Department of Defense (DOD) define the roles, authorities and responsibilities of DOD organizations and leadership positions responsible for hypersonic weapons development and acquisition efforts to ensure coordination. The congressional watchdog identified 70 hypersonic weapons development projects spread across the Pentagon as well as the Department of Energy (DOE) and NASA in support of DOD.

Marty Walsh, mayor of Boston, has received Senate confirmation to serve as the 29th secretary of the Department of Labor (DOL). The Senate on Monday voted 68-29 to approve Walsh’s nomination for the top role at DOL. Walsh has been mayor of Boston since 2014. He was a member of the Laborers' Union Local 223 and led the Boston Trades Council.
