Report: White House Plan on Artificial Intelligence, 5G Could be Ready Within Weeks

The White House is expected within the coming weeks to introduce an action plan on 5G technology, artificial intelligence and the National Quantum Initiative Act’s "first deliverables,” The Hill reported Wednesday. An administration official told the publication the Trump administration could release such a plan designed to keep the country’s research-and-development leadership in those tech areas.

Report: US Military Needs Automated Tech, Testing Capabilities for Evolving Cyber Threats

The U.S. Army is seeking information on cyber capabilities based on artificial intelligence and machine learning that can protect systems against sophisticated attacks, Bloomberg reported Monday. Robert Behler, director of operational test and evaluation for the Department of Defense, said in a report that the military's system defenders “need to improve speed and accuracy for processing reported incidents” despite their increasing capacity for thwarting mock attacks from the Red Team.

The Defense Department held its second AI Industry Day in partnership with the Army Research Lab to discuss the agency’s progress in artificial intelligence and to identify additional partnership opportunities. Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford: Army Establishing Cloud Program Office in Next Three Months

Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford, chief information officer of the U.S. Army, said the service plans to establish a cloud program office in the next 90 days as part of the Department of Defense’s cloud strategy, National Defense reported Tuesday. Crawford said the military branch intends to release an updated cloud strategy in the next three months and award two contracts for cloud services this fiscal year.
