Navy to Hold Christening of USS Lyndon B. Johnson

The U.S. Navy is set to christen the future USS Lyndon B. Johnson destroyer ship (DDG 1002) in a ceremony at General Dynamics' Bath Iron Works shipyard on April 27. Luci Johnson and Lynda Johnson Robb, daughters of Lyndon Johnson, will perform the christening as sponsors of the Zumwalt-class vessel, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

Caroline Bean, the Defense Information Systems Agency’s infrastructure branch chief, said that companies seeking collaborations with the Department of Defense may want to support the milCloud 2.0 effort, Government CIO Media reported Wednesday. Bean, also the program manager for milCloud 2.0, noted that government partners should consider including cloud migration plans in contract scopes to develop future cloud strategies during General Dynamics Information Technology’s Emerge 2019 event.

The U.S. Navy held a keel-laying ceremony for future USS Carl M. Levin at General Dynamics’ Bath Iron Works shipyard in Bath, Maine, the Naval Sea Systems Command said Friday. The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, designated as DDG 120, is intended for missions such as anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, maritime security, missile defense and command and control.

The U.S. Air Force's 89th Airlift Wing accepted delivery of a new twin-engine turbofan aircraft Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland from the AF Life Cycle Management Center one week ahead of time. AFLCMC said Friday its presidential and executive airlift division delivered the C-37B plane, which is built to transport high-ranking U.S. government and defense officials, one week ahead of time.

John Barsa Named Acting Administrator of USAID

John Barsa, assistant administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, has been assigned to lead USAID as a whole on an acting basis, succeeding Mark Green.
