Census Bureau Deploying GEOINT-Based Canvassing System for 2020 Count

The Census Bureau is implementing a new canvassing system that uses satellite imagery data to identify addresses for the 2020 population count, Federal News Network reported Monday. Steven Dillingham, director of the Census Bureau, said the agency has begun using the geospatial intelligence-based Block Assessment, Research and Classification Application and will launch a “full-fledged” canvassing effort using the system this month.

CenturyLink Provides Secure Cloud Connectivity to U.S. Census Bureau for 2020 Census; David Young Quoted

CenturyLink announced on Thursday that the company recently secured a contract to provide secure cloud connectivity to the U.S. Census Bureau that will help digitize the 2020 Decennial Census. The company will help digitize the 2020 Census by providing the Census Bureau with Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Services (MTIPS) at speeds of 40 Gbps or higher.

Agencies, Companies Present AI Systems, Apps at Census Bureau’s Demo Day

The Census Bureau hosted an event on Friday to provide federal agencies, companies and nongovernmental organizations the opportunity to demonstrate their technology platforms using data from various agencies, FCW reported Sunday. Several technologists showcased their artificial intelligence platforms, applications and open data-based tools at the demo day in response to the bureau’s Opportunity Project tech sprint.
