USAF Names New Combat Rescue Helicopter

The U.S. Air Force has named its newest Sikorsky-made rescue helicopter after the model's Vietnam-era predecessor. The HH-60W, now named Jolly Green II, succeeds the HH-3E Jolly Green helicopter that performed rescue operations during the Vietnam war, USAF said Thursday. The new helicopter would replace the existing HH-60G Pave Hawk.

Air Force Creating New Information Warfare Org; Ted Uchida Quoted

Some Air Force officials said that establishing a new information warfare organization looks to demonstrate the significance of electronic warfare and cyber capabilities, C4ISRNET reported Monday. “We’ve come to discover cyber is an element of the larger information warfare and [electromagnetic spectrum] fight that we’re in,” Ted Uchida, deputy director of operations at Air Combat Command, said Thursday at an Air Force Association event.

Lt. Gen. Arnold Bunch on Air Force’s Light-Attack Experiment

Lt. Gen. Arnold Bunch, military deputy for the office of the assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, has said he has ideas of how the service would move forward with the light-attack experiment, Defense News reported Friday. “We are planning to broaden the experimentation out and carry the experimentation forward, and I think when our budget hits, you’ll understand more of what we’re doing,” he said Friday at an Air Force Association event.
