DoD Sets Schedule to Deploy Unified Platform to Integrate Cyber Ops

The U.S. Cyber Command is set to deploy a Northrop Grumman-built, next generation cyber weapon system designed to serve as the Department of Defense’s single platform to plan and launch offensive and defensive cyber operations, Fifth Domain reported Thursday. Senior defense officials expect the CYBERCOM's Unified Platform to launch this spring. The system is designed to provide the infrastructure, information sharing, data analytics, mission planning and command tools to support the military’s cyber missions.

Air Force Research Lab Develops B-52 Electrical Systems Tester

The Air Force Research Laboratory has developed an electrical systems tester to support maintenance work on the Boeing-built B-52 bomber aircraft. AFRL teamed up with the Air Force Sustainment Center, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and the University of Dayton Research Institute to build an EST prototype, the service said Monday.

USAF Completes Joint Service CBRN Protection Masks

The U.S. Air Force has developed a wearable mask designed to protect helicopter aircrew from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards. The service branch said Thursday its Joint Service Aircrew Mask - Rotary Wing works to protect a user's ocular, percutaneous and respiratory systems and operates with night vision equipment. The mask features a removable faceplate and increased battery life over the previous Aircrew Eye and Respiratory Protection system. Users of the mask would also gain a field of view made for combat operations in CBRN environments. The U.S. Navy will also use the mask to replace the existing CBRN protection system assigned to HH-60G Pave Hawk and UH-1N Huey aircraft.

STRATCOM Software Testing System Seen to Meet Initial Operational Capability in October

A system developed to assess the U.S. Strategic Command’s new software using real-world, classified data will possibly meet initial operational capability in October 2018. The Integrated Strategic Planning and Analysis Network is in its fourth increment with a budget baseline of $150 million, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base said Sunday.
