OMB to Withhold Some Federal IT Spending Data on Public Site

The Office of Management and Budget will not publish select data on the federal government’s information technology spending for 2020 on the IT Dashboard web site, Bloomberg Government reported Tuesday. PSC Outlines Recommendations for Proposed Update to Data Center Optimization Initiative

The Professional Services Council has sent to the Office of Management and Budget its recommendations for the agency's proposed update to the Data Center Optimization Initiative. In a Dec. 26 letter to Federal Chief Information Officer Suzette Kent, PSC listed 20 recommendations such as including a vision statement to establish the DCOI policy’s purpose and aligning the policy with the 2017 Federal IT Modernization Report.

Gov’t Contractors Facing Cash-Flow Deficit Amid Shutdown

The federal government’s partial shutdown is slated to run for a third week, affecting around 800,000 government employees and resulting in potential cash-flow deficit for contractors, Federal Times reported Friday. Alan Chvotkin, executive vice president of the Professional Services Council, said a cash-flow shortage will result from contractors not getting paid by the government despite having workers needing to perform services under contract.

PSC Outlines Recommendations for ‘Cloud Smart’ Strategy

The Professional Services Council has provided a list of 20 recommendations in response to the Office of Management and Budget’s feedback request for its updated federal cloud strategy. PSC classified its recommendations for the Cloud Smart strategy into several categories such as the transition from the Cloud First plan to the new strategy; security; procurement; workforce; and CIO Council actions, according to an Oct. 24 letter.

PSC’s Alan Chvotkin: Cybersecurity, IT Modernization to Drive Federal Acquisition

Alan Chvotkin, an executive vice president and counsel at the Professional Services Council, has said information technology modernization, cybersecurity and the cross-agency goals in the President’s Management Agenda will help drive federal acquisition in the coming year, Federal News Network reported Monday. “There is no doubt increased focus on IT. Cybersecurity is clearly a high risk and high spend area so we think there will be a lot of business opportunities,” Chvotkin said.
