Commerce Dept’s Mark Daley Offers Update on Space Traffic Management Transition Effort

Mark Daley, deputy for operations at the office of space commerce, said a memorandum of understanding could be signed soon that would facilitate the transfer of space traffic management responsibilities from the Pentagon to the Department of Commerce (DOC). Ellen Lord on Defense Industrial Base’s Health, Need for Appropriations

Hon. Ellen Lord, undersecretary of defense for Acquisition and Sustainment and a 2020 Wash100 Award winner, discussed the Department of Defense’s (DoD) efforts to track the status of the defense industrial base during the COVID-19 pandemic. Lord said the DLA and DCMA help track approximately 20,000 contractors that are working with the Pentagon.

Report: Federal Funding Lapse Impacts Staffing Levels at Some Agencies

A lapse in federal appropriations that started on Saturday due to a partial government shutdown has affected some federal agencies, Federal News Network reported Thursday. About 32K employees at the Department of Homeland Security have been precluded from going to work, including 1.5K personnel at DHS’ management directorate who have been put on emergency furlough.
